When applying for graduate school, it is essential to have a perfectly constructed resume. Without a proper resume, college administrators are simply going to pass you by for others that spark their interest. Creating a college resume and application is similar to creating a job resume, as you must pitch yourself and make yourself look better than the other applicants. It is important to stay honest with this information, as you don't want to be caught in a lie, but it isn't necessary to add faulty information to boost your graduate school resume.

Start by including the school (or schools) you previously attended at the top of the resume. Include the school you graduated from at the top, and any other schools you attended underneath. Make sure to include your degree program of study too. It is also important to input your GPA. The higher your grade point average the better your odds are, especially if you graduated towards the top of your class. This always looks nice on a graduate school resume.

Mention any certifications you received during your time at school. These are typically extracurricular activities you undertook in hopes to make yourself my attractive to potential employers. This shows you are able to go above and beyond what your school curriculum required you to.

Type out all jobs you held while attending undergraduate school. Even if the school was only part time or for a short period of time, it is vital to show you did not just go to school. When creating a graduate school resume, you need to demonstrate you are capable of handling the work load of a graduate student. If you demonstrate you not only attended school, but held a job and still performed other activities, this is a major perk for your graduate school resume and admissions are more likely to take your resume seriously.

Add in any other extracurricular activities you performed while in school. This includes any clubs or sports teams you held. It also includes non-profit activities you helped with.

While filling out the graduate school resume, make sure to read all the fine print carefully. Generally, you are asked if you have ever been convicted of a crime. If you have, make sure to notice it. During the graduate process the school is going to check this information, and if they find out you left out the information from your resume they are going to pass on your application. However, if you do select that you had been convicted, you are able to write in your own personal reasoning. Everyone in life makes mistakes, so don't worry about this information holding you back from possibly entering into the school. Not including the data is more likely to hold you back than including the information.
